Prayer. Ugh, Prayer.

“Pray without ceasing.”
— 1 Thessalonians 5:17
Rather than slap a spiritual-sounding title on this post—something like “Unlocking the Power of Prayer” or “Win Your Battles on Your Knees!”—I figured I’d go with something a little more real:
Prayer. Ugh, Prayer.
Because if you’re anything like me, that’s how it often feels.
Prayer is difficult. It’s awkward. It feels unproductive.
It demands something from us—time, attention, stillness—when our whole day is pulling us in the opposite direction.
And yet… it must be done.
Prayer is like mowing the lawn. Or hitting the gym. Or showing up to work tired but ready.
You don’t always feel it. But you do it. Because it builds. Because it matters.
A Simple Strategy: 15 Minutes. Every Day.
I’ve built a method that helps me stay in the fight.
It’s a twist on the Pomodoro Technique—short, focused sprints of time dedicated to a single task.
For me, that means:
15 minutes in the early evening. Just me and God.
It’s short enough to feel doable. Long enough to matter.
Some days it’s rich. Other days, it’s dry. But it happens—daily.
And over a month, that small window adds up to serious relational ground covered. Prayer becomes what it’s meant to be: a discipline and a relationship—not just a last-ditch emergency lever.
Final Thoughts: Pray Like a Man
You don’t need to be Calvin. You don’t need to sound like Spurgeon.
Just show up. Speak honestly. Be consistent.
Prayer is the gym of the spirit. You don’t always leave with fireworks, but you will grow stronger over time.
Build the habit. Show up daily. And watch what happens when God sees you kneeling like a man who actually believes He’s listening.
